Music Together
Family time to play with instruments and experiment making music

Every few days I pull out our "music box," which has various instruments inside. Some are "toy” instruments and some are "real" instruments - such as our gathering drum and guitar. I put on a "world music" CD, such as something from the Putamayo collection and we get down on the floor and play music for half an hour or so.
Neither my husband or I would consider ourselves to be musical, but we strongly believe in giving our children an appreciation for music. We vary what we play too, sometimes Jazz, sometimes pop and sometimes we take turns performing. Our 5 year old daughter loves to make up her own songs, while our 2 year old will join in with whoever is performing at the time. It is fun and lighthearted for all of us, not just the kids!
